Each Thursday we will be highlighting a Liquid Web Managed WordPress customer doing great work. Some will be using Managed WordPress for their own personal business or blog and others will be using it for client sites. Meet Chad Williams at Creative Visual Design in Richmond Virginia. He has been dabbling in tech and website design since childhood. He still remembers his first Mac with floppy disks and teaching himself HTML and CSS. His family is in the restaurant business and some probably assumed that Chad would follow in their successful footsteps. In college, he majored in Information Systems, where he took technical classes such as Visual Basic, C++ and Java. He took an elective, “Intro to Web Design,” and although he was already self-taught, it was that class that helped him realize he was more into design than development. Then Chad found WordPress. He was able to combine the Genesis Framework, his design skills and coding knowledge and started making websites. Ultimately, it was his restaurateur sister who helped him start Creative Visual Design. He told her about his desire to start his own business and she hired him to build a website for one of the family’s restaurants. When he did so well with the first one, he did another. Soon, others in the Richmond restaurant scene were hearing about his work and hired him to redo their sites as well. One of the things Chad does for each of his projects is hire a professional photographer. And it shows in his design work. Chad says he loves “learning new ways of doing things, while relying on tried and true methods.” It is how he keeps ahead of the curve and keeps up with technology. Always learning something new, but not forgetting what he knows works. As soon as he moved his first sites to Liquid Web’s Managed WordPress he said, “I instantly noticed how much faster it was compared to my previous hosting company.” Just like all of our customers know Chad said he is amazed at how everyone at the company has really “gone above and beyond” to help his business succeed and he can really tell that everyone at Liquid Web cares about his projects. When asked about his favorite part of our Managed WordPress hosting platform he said, “I love the ability to quickly migrate a site from my current hosting as well as create a staging version of a live site to make any major edits. The auto upgrading of WordPress Core and plugin updates is also a huge bonus (ie time saving and added security for my clients) and I love that it is https.”
